Yvonne Cavanagh was born in Bakersfield, CA in 1978. A native of Kern County, Yvonne earned a BA in art with an emphasis in ceramics from San Francisco State University in 2003 and an MA in education from the University of La Verne in 2010. She completed her MFA in 2018 from Asuza Pacific University. Cavanagh co-owned Surface Gallery from 2008-2010 where she represented nationally-emerging artists. In 2011, she was awarded a Beautiful Bakersfield Award by the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce in the Arts Individual category for her outstanding contributions to the Kern County art community. Yvonne’s solo museum exhibition “Liminal Space” was on display at the Bakersfield Museum of Art September, 2018 through January, 2019.
Yvonne currently teaches ceramics at Bakersfield High School and adjunct ceramics at Bakersfield College.
